Have you ever wondered what the little icons on the side of your Facebook Messanger mean?
You sent your message through Facebook Messanger, but how do you know when your message was seen? Or when your message was read? Here is a quick graphic to explain it.
Using Facebook Messenger for Prospecting.
Like many social media platforms, Facebook is great for prospecting. Many e-commerce sites now offer integration into Facebook Messenger to connect with prospects that may have questions about your product or service. It is often frustrating when you don’t get a response back from someone. You gave them the answer, now you have to wait for them to make the next move. It is a delicate balance in the customer dance. Knowing they got the message and that they have read it will help you determine your next move.
Are you being “ghosted?”
If you are unfamiliar with the term “ghosted” it is one you should know in reference to your prospecting efforts on social media. Ghosting is where someone seems interested in something (for instance a relationship, or product/service) and then they stop communicating altogether. You may send them a few messages but get no response. This phenomenon is not just for dating, it happens when we use social media tools for prospecting with our customers.
Knowledge is power. When you realize you have answered the questions, offered help, and you get no response. You can then make the decision to move on without wasting any more of your time. The power of getting a prospect to a “NO” is powerful. You can focus your energy on people you can help.

I put the Messenger app on my phone. I can’t find a tutorial on the EXTREME BASICS! For example, on the upper right of the icon for Messenger (blue chat box with lightning? inside) there is a little red circle with a number in it. What is that? Mine shows “7” but that doesn’t seem to correlate with seven of anything when I open Messenger. Also, by a gray icon of two people, there is a number in a green circle. What is that?
To help you out with this Gail I need to know what operating system you have on your phone. Are you using an Apple or a Andoid phone?
